About Ilford

Ilford began as a small Essex settlement beside the River Roding and grew quickly after the railway arrived in 1839. Its position on the road and rail routes into London made it a popular Victorian and Edwardian suburb, while the wider Redbridge area developed around parks, schools and strong commuter links. Ilford also has a notable photographic heritage: Ilford Limited became one of Britain's best-known film and photographic-paper brands. Today Ilford is a busy east London centre on the Elizabeth line, with a diverse rental market for commuters, families and sharers.
