About Doncaster

Doncaster, a South Yorkshire town on the River Don, was founded by the Romans as Danum and grew as a great railway town, home to the works that built famous locomotives including the Flying Scotsman and Mallard, the fastest steam engine in the world. It is equally famous for horse racing, hosting the St Leger — the world's oldest classic horse race. Granted city status in 2022, Doncaster has good rail links and an affordable, active rental market.
