Beaconsfield is a Buckinghamshire town split between the historic Old Town, an important coaching stop on the London-to-Oxford road, and the New Town that grew around the railway from the early 1900s. It is home to Bekonscot, opened in 1929 and billed as the oldest original model village in the world. The town has long attracted writers and public figures — G. K. Chesterton lived here — and is one of the most affluent towns in the country. With fast Chiltern Railways services to London Marylebone, Beaconsfield is a sought-after commuter location.
