Ashford is a Kent town that grew around the Great Stour and became a major railway centre in the 19th century, with extensive railway works and junctions connecting London, the coast and the Channel. Its international station later made it part of the high-speed rail story, while the Designer Outlet and town-centre regeneration added modern employment and retail. Surrounded by Kent villages and countryside, Ashford has a busy rental market for commuters, families and people working across east Kent.
