Twickenham developed as a Thames-side village west of London, attracting writers, artists and wealthy residents who built villas along the river. Strawberry Hill House, created by Horace Walpole, helped define the Gothic Revival style, while Alexander Pope lived nearby at his famous villa. From the 20th century Twickenham became internationally known as the home of English rugby, with Twickenham Stadium hosting major internationals and finals. Today it is a sought-after riverside suburb with fast links into London and steady demand from families and professionals.
