About Stoke-on-Trent

Stoke-on-Trent is the home of the British pottery industry, formed from six towns — the 'Potteries' — that grew around the manufacture of ceramics using local clay and coal. Famous names such as Wedgwood, Spode, Royal Doulton and Minton made the area world-renowned for fine china and tableware, and its bottle kilns once filled the skyline. The city was immortalised by novelist Arnold Bennett. Ceramics still play a role today alongside distribution and manufacturing, and Stoke offers one of the most affordable rental markets in England.
