About Salford

Salford, on the banks of the River Irwell facing Manchester, was a major industrial and dockland city — the Manchester Ship Canal terminated at Salford Docks, making the inland city a working port. The painter L. S. Lowry captured its mills and 'matchstick' figures, and is celebrated at The Lowry arts centre. Those old docks have been transformed into MediaCityUK, home to the BBC and ITV. A university city with major regeneration, Salford has one of the region's most dynamic rental markets.
