About Preston

Preston is a historic Lancashire town that played a leading role in the cotton industry and in 1948 was the site of Britain's first stretch of motorway, the Preston Bypass, now part of the M6. It was granted city status in 2002 to mark the Queen's Golden Jubilee. The Harris Museum and the concrete brutalist bus station are local landmarks, and the Preston Guild — held only once every 20 years — is a celebrated civic tradition. A university and central location keep the rental market busy.
