About Perth

Perth, on the banks of the River Tay, was once the capital of Scotland and the place where Scottish kings were crowned at nearby Scone Abbey on the Stone of Destiny. Known as the 'Fair City', it grew as a market and trading town and later as a centre for insurance and whisky. Surrounded by Perthshire's forests, hills and glens, it is a gateway to the Highlands. Perth regained city status in 2012, and its heritage and central Scottish location support a steady rental market.
