About Luton

Luton is a large Bedfordshire town that grew famous for its hat-making industry, once producing straw hats on a huge scale for markets around the world. In the 20th century it became a major centre of car manufacturing with the Vauxhall Motors plant. Today Luton is best known for London Luton Airport, a major low-cost hub, and is home to the University of Bedfordshire and Luton Town FC. With fast Thameslink trains to London, Luton offers renters affordable housing and strong transport connections.
