Kettering is a Northamptonshire market town that expanded rapidly in the 19th century through boot and shoe manufacturing, ironstone quarrying and the railway. Its name is linked to William Knibb, the Baptist missionary and abolitionist born in the town, and to Wicksteed Park, one of the UK’s oldest amusement parks, opened by engineer Charles Wicksteed. Today Kettering has an affordable rental market with rail links to London and access to the A14 corridor.
