Open Homes workspaceAbout Chester
Chester was founded by the Romans as the fortress of Deva and preserves the most complete circuit of Roman and medieval city walls in Britain, which you can still walk. Its unique two-tiered medieval galleried shopping streets — the Rows — are found nowhere else in the world, and it has a fine cathedral and one of the country's oldest racecourses, the Roodee. On the River Dee near the Welsh border, Chester is an affluent tourist and shopping city with a strong rental market.
