Open Homes workspaceAbout Bradford
Bradford was the wool capital of the world in the 19th century, its skyline once dominated by mill chimneys as it processed and exported worsted cloth on a vast scale. The model village of Saltaire, built by philanthropist Titus Salt for his mill workers, is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Grand Victorian buildings such as City Hall and the Wool Exchange reflect this prosperity. Bradford is one of the youngest and most diverse cities in the UK, with a strong South Asian heritage and an affordable, active rental market.
