Belfast grew rapidly in the 19th century into a great industrial city, world-renowned for linen — earning the nickname 'Linenopolis' — as well as rope-making, tobacco and shipbuilding. The Harland & Wolff shipyard built the RMS Titanic, whose story is told today at the striking Titanic Belfast attraction. As the capital of Northern Ireland, the city has seen major regeneration and now blends heritage with a growing university, tech and tourism economy, supporting an active rental market.
