Open Homes workspaceAbout Basingstoke
Basingstoke is a Hampshire town with medieval market roots that was massively expanded from the 1960s under a town-development scheme, earning it the nickname 'Doughnut City' for its ring roads. It became a major business and financial centre, home to numerous company headquarters. Nearby are the ruins of Basing House, besieged during the English Civil War, and the town has strong links to Jane Austen, who lived in the surrounding area. With fast trains to London Waterloo, Basingstoke offers renters plentiful modern housing and good employment.
