About Bangor

Bangor, in Gwynedd, is one of the oldest cities in the UK, having grown around a monastic settlement founded in the 6th century — its cathedral traces its origins to that era. Set between the mountains of Snowdonia (Eryri) and the Menai Strait, it is a compact university city with one of the longest high streets in Wales. Thomas Telford's Menai Suspension Bridge links the mainland to Anglesey nearby. Its university gives Bangor a lively student rental market in a spectacular natural setting.
