About Ayr

Ayr is a historic market town and seaside resort on Scotland's south-west coast, long a busy port on the Firth of Clyde. It is most closely linked with Scotland's national poet Robert Burns, who was born in nearby Alloway in 1759, and the town celebrates his legacy at the Burns Birthplace Museum. Its long sandy beach, racecourse and elegant streets made it a popular Victorian holiday destination. Ayr remains the main town of South Ayrshire, with an affordable coastal rental market.
