Ascot is a Berkshire village world-famous for Ascot Racecourse, founded by Queen Anne in 1711 on land near Windsor Great Park. The showpiece Royal Ascot meeting each June is one of the highlights of the British social and sporting calendar and is regularly attended by the Royal Family. Surrounded by heath and woodland close to Windsor and Sunningdale, Ascot is one of the most sought-after and affluent areas in the county, with renters drawn by its prestige, green surroundings and links towards London Waterloo.
